The Yotam Effect

Yotam Haim was a young man who was kidnapped from his home in Kfar Aza on October 7th, 2023. He was held hostage for 65 days, until his heroic escape and tragic death.

Yotam nourished and cared for the fields of his kibbutz, loved and rescued countless animals, and despite his own battles with physical and mental health, lifted others up.

Even in captivity, Yotam comforted other hostages, assuring them that they would be rescued. A talented musician, he played songs first by drumming on his body, and later on buckets. He learned Thai so he could talk to the Thai hostages he was held with.

The Yotam Effect was started in October 2025 to encourage people to help make the world a better place through small acts of kindness towards each other, animals, and the earth.

In the words of his friend Otis, "that was the Yotam effect. I don't know a single person who didn't love him. He was the kind of guy you couldn't stay upset around"

If you would like to help contribute to The Yotam Effect, there are several shirts in the "fundraiser" section of my shop. The money from those shirts is split between a local no-kill cat shelter called Whiskers, where a kennel has been sponsored in his name, and the Kfar Azza Foundation, to help rebuild the kibbutz he loved so much.
